M. Rainer Lepsius (1928–2014) was Professor of Sociology at the University of Heidelberg, a co-editor of Max Weber's Collected Works, and wrote on Max Weber for more than thirty years. The 16 essays featured in this volume deal with Weber's work and his Fragestellung, his professional engagements, Weber as a traveller, Weber and his personal relations, and, finally, the Max Weber-Gesamtausgabe. Four essays are previously unpublished texts from Lepsius's papers, among them an essay on the Max Weber-house in Heidelberg and its relevance for the development of cultural liberalism, cultural protestantism and cultural feminism in Germany.
