Die Bedeutung von Kodizes und Leitlinien für die Ombudsarbeit in der Wissenschaft

The article deals with the practical significance of codes and guidelines for the work of ombudspersons in science. It is shown that even the extensive codification of good scientific practices and the abundance of explanations rely primarily on the fact that the rules that apply to everyone are followed intuitively and as a matter of course by scientists. However, written rules provide ombudspersons with additional authority in the event of conflict and offer guidance in their daily work. Not all researchers need to have read the mountain of documents.
