Beschreibung
Tolstoj's fundamental criticism of the dogmatics of Russian orthodoxy is mainly in spired by his study of philosophical and theological marks of the Enligthenment and the 19th century as call as by his own critical exegesis of the bible. The author shows that the legal effects of the Reformation were ambiguous. As a religious phenomenon which was unique in history it was based completely on the impact of Luther's words and works and met with a great deal of resistance, triggering many opposing forces. Thus it was largely only able to be effective indirectly in worldly forms and today to a large extent still has to function within the framework of secularized legal forms and has to bear fruit if it is to continue being effective in the service of the gospel in a secular and largely secularized world.
