The discussion about gender-equitable language recently increased. While the constitution does not allow individuals to be forced to use a specific language, the case is different for public authorities. At universities, this distinction between academic freedom on the one hand, which must remain generally free of language restrictions, and state administration on the other, which can be bound by (linguistic) law, is difficult. The constitutional situation is particularly complex. The constitution requires a precise distinction to be made on the basis of the status groups at the university and the respective areas of responsibility and areas of activity.
