Hessen-Homburgs Nachdruckprivileg für Goethe

While it is widely known that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe took considerable efforts to get his works protected by privileges in various territories of Germany in the times after the Vienna Congress 1815, it is less known that he even took steps to receive a printing privilege in the small territory of Hessen-Homburg which gained souvereignty but in 1816. The article presents the communication between Goethe and the Landgraf of Hessen-Homburg and thereby offers a contribution to legal history in »small format«, also by presenting additional information on the copyright history of the small landgraviate of Hessen-Homburg which had some significance on German copyright history in the post-privilege era. Der Artikel befasst sich mit einer weniger bekannten Variante der »Privilegienaktion« des Großherzoglich Sachsen-Weimarischen Staats-Ministers Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, nämlich seiner Bitte, auch in dem kleinen Landgraftum Hessen-Homburg ein Privileg für seine Werke zu erhalten. Diese Skizze gibt Einblick in ein interessantes Stück deutscher Urheberrechtsgeschichte.
