Beschreibung
The article focuses on trends in public communication about court proceedings or in the run-up to such proceedings and their reception by the public. Recent innovations are investigative journalism not only by the media, but also by non-journalists, as well as litigation PR by attorneys. The legal boundaries for these new forms of opinion building are loose whereas information practices by courts and public authorities are still tightly bound by the law. The press work of judicial authorities and the courts needs to be expanded to keep up the balance between provocative and objective reporting about what really happens in court, and to safeguard due process.
