Taufe und Asyl

This study document gives an overview of the international scholarly debate about Christian convert asylum seekers from Iran. The author proceeds along the line of academic disciplines involved in the debate. Contributions from the laws seem to be dominant in German research, which may be due to the peculiarities of how German jurisdiction has implemented the European Qualification Directive concerning the refugee status (I). Interdisciplinary contributions seem to be particularly valuable for assessing the anthropological corollaries of the interrogation routines state institutions in different European countries apply during the asylum procedure (II). Contributions from religious studies and intercultural theology seem to go even one step further in that they integrate qualitative interviews with Iranian Christians into the research design (III).
