The Growth of the Scriptural Corpus by Successive Rewritings. The Case of the So-called »Historical Psalms«

The historical psalms (Psalms 78; 81; 95; 105–106; 114; 135–136) draw on earlier biblical texts. This paper examines the nature of their reconstruction of Israel's history, as well as the identity of the community in and for which they were composed. It also draws conclusions about the redaction and composition of the Pentateuch from the reconfiguration of pentateuchal material in the historical psalms.
