By means of specific texts (i.e. Gen 12:1–4a, 6, 8, 9; 13:1, 3–4, 14–17, 18b; 26:2–3bα, 23, 25aα; 27:29b; 28:13aα2–14; 33:18*, 20; 35:1, 6*, 7), the older Jacob tradition was joined with the Abraham and Lot narrative, thereby resulting in the formation of a story of the fathers. This story was available for the writer(s) of the Priestly source, though it originated around the same time and in a different environment in the Persian period.
