The author demonstrates that the promise of a new or second Exodus does not form an integral part of the original prophecy in the book of Deutero-Isaiah. Rather, it is an important topic of the literary reinterpretation and shows how biblical history finds its way into prophetic literature. As such, the motif contributes decisively to constitute the people's identity as being the people of Yhwh.
