Summary
With the work of Baruch (Benedict) Spinoza as a point of departure, this article focuses on the Pentateuchal materials themselves as a means of discussing the notion of the Mosaic authorship of the Pentateuch. Included also are references to ancient Near Eastern inscriptions, especially those in which the first person singular grammatical form was used by ancient leaders.
