Barths Abschied von »Zwischen den Zeiten«. Recherchen und Beobachtungen zum Ende einer Zeitschrift

At the end of 1933, the journal »Zwischen den Zeiten«, which had been a leading forum for discussions on dialectic theology, ceased publication. There had been differences of opinion between Barth, Gogarten and Brunner since the foundation of the journal, and the problem was exacerbated when it became necessary for them to develop their own theological concepts. The difficulties in the political situation and the church, which started in 1933, were not the immediate cause of the journal's demise, but they did hasten it, since they forced those involved to make decisions which could have been made sooner if they had been more realistic.
