In a lecture held in Berlin in 1985, the late Zurich dogmatist Walter Mostert (1936–1995) provided a strictly theological-dogmatic interpretation of the Chalcedonian Creed which attempted to explain its lasting significance for current theological thinking. The Chalcedonian Creed is not only the hermeneutical understanding of the Christology of the New Testament; it also demonstrates that the Christian faith can only be based on Christology.
