Summary
The article examines Calvin's attitude towards the Confessio Augustana. It begins by examining whether Calvin ever subscribed to the Augsburg Confession – in Straßburg or later. Then it looks at the importance of the Confessio Augustana for Calvin's thinking. It concludes that Calvin accepted the confession for a certain time, but that he was never truly comfortable with it.
