Summary
In the book of Proverbs, there is a certain form of inner-biblical exegesis, especially with allusions to the Torah tradition. An exegesis of some passages of Prov 1-9 shows that chapters such as Prov 3, 6 and 7 present different concepts of wisdom and Torah rather than a single understanding. In this article, the author argues that these different ways of relating and specifying wisdom and Torah shaped the composition and redaction of the book of Proverbs (Prov 2, 30). In the final redaction of the book however, a position prevailed which emphasizes the limitations of wisdom and in this way comes close to late prophetic texts.
