Summary
The »Bible in a Just Language« does not meet the requirements for a translation of the biblical texts. The underlying presuppositions reflect the theological and political concerns of the translators, but do not do justice to the historical and cultural conditions which prevailed while the texts were being translated. Thus this edition of the Bible falls short of the insight of the Reformation that the Scripture has to be regarded as a critical corrective which is not freely available. This edition also conflicts with historical-critical exegesis in which the gap between the world of the biblical texts and our own reality was pointed out.
