Summary
The thesis of this paper is that the focus on 'lived religion' is a key to understanding Christian social practice in a genuine practical-theological way. It not only marks a possible contribution of practical theology to the broader discourse on 'diaconia', but also a perspective in which diaconia becomes relevant to practical theology in general. The basic structure of 'lived religion in social practice' is explained as an experience of self-transcendence in the field of mutual recognition.
