Summary
This is a critical discussion of Nietzsche's view of the self-devaluation of human beings in modernity. In view of the modern devaluation of the exceptional position of humanity in the evolution of life, it is of little avail to insist on the traditional Christian view of the image of God as created autonomy. In theological terms, the decisive feature of human beings is not their active creativity but rather their creative passivity.
