Summary
2 Clem 19.1–20.4, probably a later addition to 2 Clem 1–18.2; 20.5, bears striking intertextual links to 1 Clem. This points to the original function of this passage: It served as some sort of bridge-text between the public reading of 2 Clem 1–18.2; 20.5 and 1 Clem. Because of this, 2 Clem 19.1–20.4 witnesses an early combination of two formerly independent texts, i.e.1 Clem and 2 Clem.
