Summary
This article focuses on Gos. Pet. 12.50–14.60 as an autonomous text that can be understood as it is and without any reference texts. By means of this premise and the relevant theories the relation to the canonical traditions is going to be examined. Thereby, with regard to the ancient novel (and the apocryphal Acts), the novel-like features of the story of the empty tomb will be underlined and the strategic focus of the narration will be worked out.
