Summary
Since the publication of the first German translation of the Gospel of Philip by H.-M. Schenke in 1959, most scholars agree that NHC II, p. 63,35–36 should be restored to read »[... and he (sc. the Saviour)] kiss[ed] her (sc. Mary Magdalene) ...« This article proves that a completely different restoration of the end of this line is possible which reverses the meaning of the phrase. So it has to be admitted that it is unknown whether the Saviour often kissed Mary Magdalene or not.
