As the comparison between the introductory paragraphs of Schleiermacher's »The Christian Faith in Outline«, on the one hand, and Hegel's treatise on immediate knowledge of God as well as religious feeling in his Berlin lectures on the other shows, both thinkers' conceptions of piety and faith differ less than is usually assumed.
