Summary
The critical essay discusses five present-day crisis-scenarios (the public debts-crisis in general, the »Grexit«-crisis in particular, the overall migration issues and especially the refugee crisis, finally the Ukraine crisis) the European Union is facing as supranational actor on the global plane. Based upon this assessment, the potential as well as the limits of a European constitutional theory and of European Studies are discussed. Methodologically, the author applies a cultural-sciences approach and, turning to the political dimension, reminds the reader of Europés role and responsibility in »a wider world".
