Summary
This paper particularly argues against the idea of a strictly formalised, repetitive prayer with raised arms and low emotional impact. By focusing on the vocality of prayer and by investigating Cicero's argumentative strategy against P. Clodius Pulcher in his speech De domo sua, this paper claims that the famous failed prayer of Clodius was a huge success.
