Summary
As in the past, the origins of Gnosticism are still being discussed today. The vast majority of researchers see the origins of Gnosticism in Christianity. However, there are a number of researchers who believe that Gnosticism emerged independently of Christianity. The current research situation characterizes the diversity of the original models of Gnosticism.
