Summary
During the past five years, the Israel Antiquities Authority has initiated many salvage excavations at sites dated partially or completely to the Iron Age (c. 1200–586 B.C.E.). Some of these sites showed no sign of remains from this time period prior to the excavations and the new finds, when considered together, reveal important information that sheds light on our knowledge of topics related to ancient Israel as well as to the Old Testament. In this short article, some of this work will be discussed.
