Summary
In summary, it should be noted that reviews are not only atmospherically sensitive and relevant with regard to good academic practice, but are also significant in terms of constitutional and administrative law, particularly in appointment procedures. Due to the extensive scope for judgment, the processing of reviews is nevertheless only justiciable to a limited extent. If the scientific community wants to effectively counter the often-lamented decline of the review system, reviews should not only be received more frequently in academic circles, but should in particular no longer occupy a marginal position in appointment procedures. This article outlines the legal framework for this.
