Summary
Who are the εἰρηνοποιοί that are blessed in Matt 5:9? As far back as the ancient world and during the early modern age a variety of interpretations was brought into play. The chief interest of the paper is the question: How was the example of a Christian individual and of a Christian society depicted in these interpretations?
