Summary
The three terms »security","assurance« and »feeling of security« belong to one and the same semantic field. However they indicate distinct problems and perspectives. »Security« today refers mainly to social and political claims. »Assurance« includes an epistemological question and in the theological tradition it is related to the rationale of faith. »Feeling of security« is less deliberated on in theoretical reflection, the concept having relation to the life environment. A comparison of the three concepts prompts the theological question as to the relationship between theoretical question and anchorage in the life environment.
