Summary
This article reexamines the often-discussed critique of Islam in Der Stern der Erlösung (1921), the philosophical main work of German-Jewish philosopher Franz Rosenzweig (1886–1929). Through a close reading of the works on Islam mentioned in a recently published edition of his library catalog, it becomes clear, on the one hand, that Rosenzweig had access to a wide range of works, covering many of the themes that would later appear in his comments on Islam in Stern, but that his own views, on the other hand, often differ from those of the authors he consulted.
