Summary

The explanatory value of extending models for biological evolution to the cultural and social sphere is questioned both on the hermeneutic and on the methodological level. Overall, morphology can serve as a valuable paradigm in the sciences. It is a candidate for transdisciplinary studies and a philosophy of technology that addresses living entities.
