Summary
In the archives in Halle (Germany) and Rome lie the letters and postcards written between Georg Wissowa and Franz Cumont. In their exchange, one can follow the development of their most relevant publications and trace their mutual influence on the work of one another. The paper traces the communication between the two scholars, their views on things religious in ancient Rome and the development of their scholarly friendship.
