Summary
Opponents of creation 'from nothing' (ex nihilo) have recently clashed with defenders of this doctrine. Typically, the debate is construed as pitting supporters of the omnipotent God of traditional Christian theism against process theologians and others who emphasize the contingency of the divine experience. In the following pages, I argue for exactly the opposite conclusion. Those who wish to emphasize the radical contingency of God are better advised to take a radical ex nihilo approach to creation.
