Summary
Lukas Lemcke explores the forms and development of the administrative communication channels that facilitated the official exchange of information in the Later Roman Empire (fourth to sixth century AD). On this basis, he challenges the conventional understanding of the Late Roman administration's structure during this period and presents new findings on the function and the development of the vicariate.
