European Union Member States autonomously provide for their national adaptation laws, adopted within the scope of the regulatory leeway offered by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to be applicable. In light of the arising conflicts of laws, Merlin Gömann sets out why such national conflict rules are incompatible with the GDPR and must be repealed.
