Summary
In his Gospel and in Acts, Luke gives positive and at the same time negative portrayals of the Roman Empire. Jens-Arne Edelmann interprets the pertinent texts, systemizes their varying conclusions for the first time and shows that it is precisely in its diversity that the Lucan narrative develops its potential to provide guidance to contemporary Christians in dealing with the Roman Empire.
