Summary
Through a coherent storyline, the gospel of Mark develops the idea of the basileia tou theou (conventionally translated as »kingdom of God«) more and more as a concept of the royal presence of God. Judith König shows how Mark's narrative suggests that it is possible to perceive this royal presence of God even in the death of his son on the cross because the nearness of God's royal presence radically changes perception.
