Summary
Georg Jellinek (1851-1911) is regarded as the classic authority on the general doctrine of political science and constitution. With his distinction between and his simultaneous imparting of political and juridical science, Jellinek founded the interdisciplinary dialog in political science. Jellinek argues with Max Weber about the concept of typus in social sciences and with Paul Laband about the relationship between political science and politics. Jellinek's explanation of revolutions by the 'normative power of facts' has been a provocation to political science for the past hundred years. Jens Kersten introduces Jellinek's terminology and standpoints from a biographical and an historical point of view and questions their current significance.
