Summary
The contrast between Lutheran and Reformed Protestantism is deeply etched in cultural memory. In the sixteenth century, however, the transitions were much more fluid than later denominational formations suggest, with names such as Melanchthon, Bucer and the young Calvin illustrating this. Christoph Strohm shows that the plurality within the Reformation becomes even clearer by taking a closer look at lesser-known theologians like Heinrich Bullinger.
