Summary
After Martin Luther's death in 1546 and amidst the inner-protestant controversies thrown up by 1548's Augsburg Interim, in which Philipp Melanchthon was also involved, the pupils of Wittenberg's two reformers were challenged to restate their theology in the face of altered political constellations. The essays collected in this volume analyze the role that the »memoria« credited to and cherished by Luther and Melanchthon played in this.
