Rechtssicherheit durch Rechtswissenschaft

An attempt to translate the German expression »Rechtssicherheit« results in a list of problems: predictability of actions and legal decisions, legal certainty, legal security, stability of the law, rule of law and by law (as opposed to men), sound legal protection. These concepts all raise one question: How and what can legal scholarship, jurisprudence and legal dogmatics do to help? The essays in this volume address these questions and make use of recent results in the philosophy of science and the philosophy of language.
