The series Lehrbuch des Privatrechts (LbPrivR) was founded in 2001. With the desire to set high academic standards and modern didactics as its defining factors, German private law is presented in its current dimensions – comprehensively, thoroughly and didactically. The textbooks are aimed at students – both with and without previous knowledge – as well as scholars and practitioners wishing to immerse themselves in questions of private law. The authors’ goal is not to provide an encyclopedic or commentary-like wholeness, but rather to present the foundations and broad lines of the German private law system in an illustrative and representative manner. Equal attention is given to European and international law and procedural framework requirements.
